CREDENTIALING 2008

 

Will You Be 18 years or older by December 31, 2008?

 

North Carolina is offering a Risk Management Program to help officials who want to be eligible to officiate certain types of regular season and tournament matches.  This is a type of credentialing.  Anyone 18 years of age or older by December 31, 2008, who wants to officiate NCASA adult or NCYSA youth or USYS youth matches, in North Carolina, or nationally, must voluntarily undergo a criminal background check.

 

     There is no charge to you for the background check. NCSRA has contracted with the service that NCYSA uses to conduct the nation-wide check.  You’ll log onto the questionnaire through the NCYSA website, but the results of the checks are administered through the NCSRA. 

 

     Only persons with certain types of crimes will be excluded from refereeing.  For example, speeding tickets are not grounds for stopping someone from refereeing.  Convicted child molesters are prevented from refereeing.

 

     To complete the simple background check questionnaire, please follow these steps:

 

1.    Go to the NCYSA web page at www.ncsoccer.org

2.    On the left margin menu, at the top, click on “Risk Management”

3.    Follow the instructions on completing the questionnaire, and then click submit.

4.    Wait…  Don’t leave the site…  You’ll receive a confirmation number…  Then…

5.    Be sure to complete the second part of the questionnaire that asks you to identify ALL the positions you hold within the NC soccer community. (e.g. "referee" and/or "referee assignor" and/or "referee instructor" and/or  "referee administrator" and/or “coach”...)

 

     The questionnaire will have to be completed EVERY year that you want to referee.  For example, you must complete it now for 2008, and again in February 2009 for 2009.

If you turn 18 during the year, you must complete the Risk Management Form on your 18^th birthday.
